    Berkshire Hathaway Automotive has an Accounting team in Irving, TX that supports the Berkshire Hathaway Automotive (BHA) Management Company and BHA Real Estate Company (BHARE).  The Staff Accountant will assist the Controller, Accounting Manager, Sr. Real Estate Accountant, and Treasurer in executing effective and efficient accounting processes to support the 80+ dealerships while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and governmental regulations.

    Responsibilities

    This position is responsible for performing various accounting activities including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, inter-company billing, tax processing, fixed assets, and cash management for the BHA Management Company and Real Estate Company as follows:

    • Compile and analyze financial information to help prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts
    • Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
    • Prepare monthly A/R billings and cash collection to dealerships from various departments within the BHA Management Company
    • Prepare monthly recurring and non-recurring entries including dealership billings, expense reports, cash journal entries, payroll journal entries, and depreciation entries
    • Prepare daily cash position reporting and provide additional Treasury support as needed
    • Interact with Dealership Controllers and Management Company personnel to address questions related to various items such as dealership billings, cash balances, and expenses
    • Perform cash and Pcard reconciliations and prepare period end accruals
    • Prepare balance sheet general ledger account reconciliations
    • Verify depreciation schedules agree to the general ledger and Fixed Asset disposals are properly categorized and presented
    • Perform Accounts Payable coding review, entry and vendor reconciliation as needed
    • Help maintain and enhance best practice accounting control procedures
    • Perform other duties and projects as assigned or responsibilities dictate

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting or Finance preferred) or equivalent experience
    • CPA designation or working toward preferred

    Experience:

    • 2 years of Accounting/Finance experience (GAAP, SOX) preferred
    • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, specifically intermediate level Microsoft Excel
    • Experience working with an ERP accounting system preferred
    • Experience working in a multi-location operating environment, with multiple legal entities preferred
    • Prior experience in a Shared Services environment working with Inter-Company billing a plus
    • Experience with Sage 100 Accounting system a plus
    • Experience with Concur Travel and Expense system a plus
    • Experience working with Hyperion reporting system a plus
    • Experience working with dealership accounting systems (e.g., CDK) a plus
